At the end of last year I was gifted a great gig to go shoot.  It was for the Q gigs which occur just before the Q awards.  This particular show featured the Ruen Brothers (with The Coves and JJ Rosa).  I had never heard of the Ruen Brothers but I was blown away by their energy and brilliant oldie-rock.  I’m no muso journalist so it’ll probably be best to have a listen for yourself and if you get a chance, go see a live show.

On the photo side of things…was using my trusty Canon 5D mark II and was changing between the 70-200 f2.8 for the tighter shots and the 16-35 f2.8 (all canon) for the nice wide shots.  Lighting got turned up a little for the Ruen Brothers so I was able to avoid using flash.  All shots taken wide open at f2.8 at quite a fast shutter speed as Henry (dark haired singer/guitarist of the duo) really got animated!  Rupert was (blonde haired guitarist/back up vocals of the duo) definitely had the cool laid-back attitude.

All-in-all a great gig for music and photography.  The Ruen Brothers are set in my playlist and I even got an image in Q magazine…bonus.
