An excuse to cut my beard off.

After booking a great holiday to Turkey with my beautiful girlfriend and then finding out it was going to be 37˚ (99˚ Fahrenheit) I decided it was a good idea to get rid of the face rug.  I also had the idea of creating a small studio setup in my room.  When I say small, I mean, small.  I used my 16-35mm f2.8 at max zoom of 35mm with a piece of black board I bought from an art shop as a backdrop…which I cropped in post and worked with levels and contrast etc.

I used my Canon 5D mark II, 16-35mm f2.8 (as previously mentioned), Tripod (VANGUARD Alta Pro 263AGH Aluminium Tripod with GH-100 Pistol Grip Ball Head) and Canon 430EX II….oh and a cheap white circle reflector.  Turned the flash backwards and fired it straight into the reflector.  My good friend Michael held the circular reflector while taking the shots and I did the same to take the shots of him. A very simple, fun way to say goodbye to my beard!

That isn’t actually the razor I used either. About a year ago I bought the ‘Start up kit’ from Bluebeards Revenge (which came with a signed “welcome to the man club’ postcard by ‘Paul’).  You can get something similar here – Bluebeards-Revenge.
